12/7/06Well, I survived my first typhoon, It wasn't really that bad. Really high winds, and a ton of rain. The resort I'm at(Thai Hao) had a bus come to evacuate people who wanted to go, but it didn't come until 9pm, and the storm was starting to rage. I decided to stay for two reasons-a bus heading in the direction of the storm didn't seem the best place to be, and I don't have possession of my passport. My visa extension is held up by the storm, because there is no power except by generator, like this place. Today is the first day that the internet has worked, and I knew you would be concerned. My resort suffered minimal damage, but the town, and surrounding villages was not so lucky. Mui Ne is between Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh. I got word today that I should get my passport back tomorrow(friday here), and my extension was approved. I have been unable to determine any western union info because it has not been open since the storm. Most people say that power should be back on tomorrow. The western union people at K-mart might be able to help, as Mui Ne has only one western union. I will try to get the info from the front desk, and e-mail later today. I am stuck here for now because the one ATM was damaged by the storm, and there is no place to get money. I can charge to my room to stay fed, but I need money to get the hell out of here. 250$ in enough to get out of here, and handle my Visas. Mui Ne is a great place to be stranded though. The beach is incredible, and since the storm, there have been hardly any people. I feel good and am making the best of the situation, so don't worry. Will let you know what I find out, P.S>Where is Jim Cantore when you need him?
