These photos are from our cooking class in Rome. Amelia and Erik arranged for us to take a class at le Fate Restaurant and Wine Bar on Trastevere 1304 (www.cookingclassesinrome.com) Top photo shows our chef, Chef Andrea Consoli as he is serving us the four course meal 'we' prepared in his kitchen. After the 2.5 hours of preparation time, we really enjoyed the 2.5 hours of eating (and, of course, we tasted a different Italian wine with each course)!
Andrea showed us how to prepare: Pumpkin flowers with prosciutto and mozzarella, with southern style pesto, (2)Leek, potato and chestnut soup, (3) Homemade potato Gnocchi with tomato basil sauce, and (4) Chocolate Souffle' (my personal favorite!)
Also pictured is Andrea quizzing us about our experience. Everyone expressed they had had a wonderful time, and had learned many things. Beside Andrea is Erika, Andrea's american girlfriend (and very fortunately for Ocia, she is Ocia's babysitter when grandparents aren't around!).
The photo of all the women in the class was taken by Link, who was the only male participant. The other classmates were from Canada, California, and Minnesota!
We really enjoyed ourselves and took Erik, Amelia and Ocia to the restaurant on our final night in Rome. The restaurant is small, and has the most charming atmosphere of any restaurant anywhere. Andrea and his family work the restaurant every day. I believe Andrea is the second generation chef. Andrea's father still chef's in the kitchen with Andrea, his brother is the main server, and his mother manages the daily operation of the restaurant.
We highly recommend stopping for lunch, dinner or cooking classes at le Fate Restaurant when you are visiting Rome!
